Intensive English Programme

Intensive English Programme

The Intensive English Programme is designed to provide social and academic English language instruction to students preparing for university life and to those intending to improve their English proficiency in a university environment.
 
 
Aim
To develop students’ confidence and competence in using English in social and academic environments.
 
 
Target learners

Individuals who wish to learn English in a university environment;
Pre-university students who are planning to apply for a degree programme or are waiting to enrol in a university;
Local and international students who plan to apply for a postgraduate degree programme;
Local and international students who have been accepted into a postgraduate degree programme but lack adequate competence in English to meet the university’s requirements.
 
Levels
 
  1. Foundation English : Language Skills Development (Introductory)
  2. Intensive English I : Language Skills Development (Elementary)
  3. Intensive English II : Language Skills Development (Intermediate)
  4. Intensive English III : Academic Language Skills Development(Upper-Intermediate)
  5. Intensive English IV : Academic Language Skills Development (Advanced)
* Enrolment in this English language programme DOES NOT ensure acceptance into an academic programme at Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Tailor-made courses for special Intensive English programmes are also available upon request.

HOW TO APPLY

 
  1. Fill in the application form by either downloading it from the website (http://www.sollat.usm.my), or obtaining it from the office.
  2. Submit the application form together with receipt of payment  for a minimum of one level which is USD 1100 (RM3200). Please note that this amount paid is non-refundable if you withdraw from the course/programme.
  3. Submit the required documents and the application form to:

* The letter of offer will be issued upon receipt of the above-mentioned documents.Please give an allowance of 3 weeks for the processing of the application.

All students are required to sit for a placement test and the performance in the test will be used to determine the level of entry.
