Bahasa Malaysia Courses For Malaysians 

(i) LKM 300/2 - Bahasa Malaysia III 

This course is for students who do not possess credit grades
(Grades 1A – 6C) in the Bahasa Malaysia subject at the SPM level. 

(ii) LKM 400/2 - Bahasa Malaysia IV 

All Malaysian students must take and pass LKM 400/2 with the minimum 
of a Grade C in order to graduate.
 
B) Bahasa Malaysia Course (for Academic Staff)
 
LKM 003/2 - Bahasa Malaysia Peringkat Maju (Advanced Bahasa Malaysia) 

The objective of this course is to improve the proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia of academic staff so that they can conduct lectures as well as write articles and books in Bahasa Malaysia effectively. Staff should acquire sufficient language proficiency in speaking, writing and conducting lectures in order to pass this course.

This course consists of three components: writing, oral and lecture-based language performance tests. The writing component comprises various types of essay writing, translation (translating a wide range of texts from English into Malay) and grammar. The oral component and the lecture-based language performance test focus on language use with emphasis on grammar and pronunciation.

• Graduate students; and 

• Non-graduating students. 

Note: To obtain credit units for Bahasa Malaysia courses, a minimum grade of a “C” is required.
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: FURTHER EXPLANATION FOR BAHASA MALAYSIA COURSES 
(FOR UNDERGRADUATES) 

There are four levels, namely 
LKM 100 - Bahasa Malaysia I 
LKM 200 - Bahasa Malaysia II 
LKM 300 - Bahasa Malaysia III 
LKM 400 - Bahasa Malaysia IV 
A pass in LKM 400 is required for graduation. 

(i) All students who have obtained credit grades in the Bahasa Malaysia subject at SPM/SPVM or possess Subsidiary/Principal grades at STPM are exempted from taking LKM 100, LKM 200 and LKM 300. They are only required to take and pass LKM 400 – Bahasa Malaysia IV. 

(ii) All students who have not obtained credit grades in Bahasa Malaysia at SPM/SPVM, students from Indonesia, Brunei and other foreign students who have passed LKM 201 must take and pass LKM 300 - Bahasa Malaysia III and then LKM 400 – Bahasa Malaysia IV. Malaysian students in this category must continue to take and pass LKM 400 – Bahasa Malaysia IV in order to graduate. The non-Malaysian undergraduates must take but do not need to pass LKM 400 in order to graduate.
